HBF Sales Policy 2024

Customers who have placed a deposit to secure a position on the waitlist for specific kid pairings are granted a 48-hour window to confirm their interest following the birth of the requested kid. Subsequently, in the event of non-response, the goat is publicized as available. For those on a general waitlist, notifications of goat availability are conveyed in the order of their waitlist entry. Post-listing, goats are sold on a first-come, first-served basis, but can be held onto for an agreed upon amount of time with a half down deposit.

A reduction of $25 per goat purchase is extended to FFA and 4H members upon presentation of valid proof. Active DHIA and LA participants are eligible for a $50 discount along with individuals who purchase multiple goats at once from me, provided adequate proof is provided of LA and DHIA participation. A $50 discount is available to those who purchase two or more goats from me. It is important to note that these discounts only apply to the total purchase and are not offered per goat.

As the owner of a small farm, I retain the right to retain any doeling or buckling born on-site, regardless of prior reservations, with a corresponding refund for affected reservations. Kids born on the farm have been nurtured through bottle feeding, becoming available as early as 2 weeks old, to ensure their optimal health and ability to take the bottle. For purchasers of wethers, the responsibility lies with the buyer to band the goat if not already banded. However, I facilitate appointments for on-farm banding at an appropriate age, typically around 11 weeks. All goats undergo disbudding before departing the premises, unless they are naturally polled or the buyer expressly requests horns prior to the goat's birth. Additionally, registered does and bucks receive a unique tattoo through ADGA for identification before leaving our farm.
-
During their time on the farm, goats receive detailed care within a dry lot pen, prioritizing safety and health to minimize potential parasite-related concerns. The breeding members of the herd will undergo annual disease testing once everything is settle for the 2024 year, and any newly introduced goats adhere to a quarantine protocol, ensuring robust biosecurity measures. It is important to note that, despite these precautions, the health or quality of a goat post-departure is not guaranteed. In cases where a goat is considered of lower quality, it may be offered for sale with a corresponding discount, accompanied by transparent disclosure detailing the reasons for its classification as "lower-quality."
-
The sale of registered stock is reserved exclusively for individuals whose primary intentions align with breeding and maintaining the genetic integrity of the goat. However, unregistered stock may be made available for butchering or consumption under specific standards. Furthermore, it is imperative to note that no individual goat will be sold to a farm without pre-existing goats or without the explicit intent to acquire additional companions. Goats, being herd animals, thrive in the presence of a companion, and this consideration aligns with optimal animal welfare standards.
-
Once goats are sold, returns are not accepted unless expressly permitted or initiated through a buyback arrangement. Deposits made in anticipation of a goat purchase are fully refundable in the event that the goat is not taken home.
